This snowfall isn't like the snow storm that we had on February 12, 2006 or the impressive one that came through on February 28, 2005, but it is a good taste of winter.
I actually like a little snow as long as it isn't mixed with ice or freezing rain. Living in Atlantic Canada drilled into me the importance of a clean driveway. In the wilds of New Brunswick, you either kept the snow cleaned off of your driveway or bought crampons since it could easily turn to solid ice.
This morning I headed out for the driveway clearing chore as soon as the sun started to creep around the house. Here our on 17% slope mountain, the February sun can provide the final touch for a clean driveway if you have the snow off so the heat of the sun can work its magic.
From the picture to the left you can actually see that all of the driveway is clean except for where our house is creating a shadow. Fortunately the picture was taken just after 11 am this morning so there was plenty of time for the sun to move farther to the west and finish cleaning up the snow.
It is important for us old guys to get all the help we can find when we tackle a driveway. I long ago gave up shoveling and now use a Canadian snow scoop which makes cleaning a driveway relatively easy even when the snow is soaked with rain as it often is here in Roanoke.
There's something pleasing about cleaning snow off of a driveway. It's a task that has a start and a finish. It's not like battling technology which often gives us all a fit.
Cleaning the snow off of your driveway efficiently is as rewarding as finding the right words for a nicely done post. The pay is about the same.
