I went to lunch with an old friend today, and we happened to exit our neighborhood by Keagy Road. Much to our surprise there was a bulldozer parked at the edge of the road.
Based on the location, my guess is that this is the first bulldozer for the Keagy Village development. I hate to see the beautiful woods disappear, and all the extra traffic we're going to see on one of our neighborhood roads, but the reality is that we could use a few services someplace besides Valleyview Mall.
I'm glad that the plans look to be well done. I've actually been to Birkdale Village, another project of DMR, and I was impressed with it. At this point, I guess we'll grin and bear the construction and hope it turns out to be a very positive addition to the county.
I would rather see more parks in Roanoke County than development, but parks don't generate taxes so I suspect we'll always see development at the expense of green space.
Good for Keagy Village that they got themselves a bulldozer. It’s been six years since this post, and I think that the machine serves the people well. I think that every village and city should have at least one of these machineries. Aside from clearing the woods, it can also be used in other works like road construction and such.
