Everyone has their own way of escaping the heat. Yet there are days that you just have to stay in town and can't get to water or to higher elevations where the temperatures might not be so bad.
My remedy for a hot day in Roanoke is an extra large Deb's Frozen Lemonade. There are lots of cool drinks in the world but one of Deb's Frozen Lemonade drinks last far longer than the competition. The slushy frozen treat is really hard to beat on a hot day like today when the temperature went to 91 degrees Fahrenheit by 1 pm according the Weather Underground Roanoke report.
I bought frozen lemonade around noon today, and I'm still sipping on the remnants reinforced with some Crystal Light.
I'm sure we have lots of visitors to Roanoke who never know what a refreshing treat that they're missing and how close they are to experiencing a Roanoke tradition when they drive down 419.
So if you're in Roanoke on a hot day and need something cold to battle the heat, head on down to Deb's at 3009 Brambleton Ave or if you see these funny green and yellow trucks at a Roanoke area event, don't be afraid to get into the long time.
Here's a Google Map to lead you to some relief from the heat.
By the way, what does Deb do on a hot day? According to the staff, she went to the lake.
