These are the Brats that we bought from the Garden Mountain Farm folks yesterday at the Roanoke Farmers Market. They made an outstanding Sunday lunch. It was a little unusual seeing snow flakes mix with pollen on the grill top when I opened it to start the fire, but it wasn't cold enough that I had to wear any shoes.
My, college roommate, Jon, who is from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, would approve of these Brats I believe. I suspect he will be doubtful enough of my taste buds that we might have to slay another pack or two just to prove I'm right. Of course I just need to get him down to Roanoke from New Jersey so we can commence with the grilling. He's probably still frozen in the ice up there. Beer and Brats have been known to move mountains so there can be no better offer.
Even Glenda loved these extraordinary Brats, though those dainty dabs of mustard that she uses are hardly worth the effort. My compliments to Mike and Rebecca Hubbard on the great Bratwurst recipe. If you haven't tried their sausages on a grill, you are really missing a treat. I know they are at the Roanoke Market on Saturdays.
I'll be there, Tuesday. Fire it up.
