I am up in Northern Virginia for a meeting so the view is a little different today. In fact this was my view a few minutes after seven am this morning when I got on the Dulles toll road and headed towards Tyson's Corner.
A brutal fact of life in the world of government business is early morning meetings. Suits and ties are also the dress code so my day started early.
Registration for the meeting this morning started at 7 am and the meeting itself started at 7:40 am. From the looks of the traffic, I wasn't the only one heading towards the beltway. I plan to write more when I get back home tonight, but one of my thoughts is that with the technology that is available today, some of the work that is being done in Northern Virginia could easily be done in Southwest Virginia with a lot less time sitting in a car. Of course that was the theme of the meeting we attended. It was hosted by Virginia Economic Bridge.
I wonder how many of these people on the toll road would rather be looking out at the Blue Ridge Mountains each day instead of the tail lights of the car in front of them? There are some real opportunities for partnership between Northern and Southwestern Virginia companies. More on that later.
