Aside from attending a very productive meeting which I will write about in detail tomorrow, my son, Michael turned me on to a great burger place in Chantilly, "Five Guys Famous Burgers." The service was quick, the food well prepared and certainly a cut above most burgers. Perhaps the good experience has something to do with this statement which was posted on the soda machine.
You the customer are the most important visitor on our premises. You are not dependent on us, we are dependent on you. You are not an outsider in our business- you are part of it. We are not doing you a favor serving you.... you are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.
I don't care what your business is, this is a great philosophy on which to build your organization. I think it can produce more than just great burgers. It can produce great organizations. Of course I've only been to one location, but the one in Chantilly does a great job. I'll be back but I need to take someone to help me eat all the french fries. I haven't had fries spilling all over a brown paper bag since we left the real fish and chips behind in Halifax, NS. If you are in the Northern Virginia area, this Five Guys location is on Route 50 west just past Route 28. It is near the huge Target and just beside the Starbucks. It is probably the second left going west on 50 after Route 28. Go hungry.
If we are lucky the coming locations web page is correct, and we will have a Five Guys location in Salem.
They even have one in Blacksburg now!
