Dinner on the water
I have not figured out why it is, but I think for pure pleasure few things beat having dinner by the water and watching the sun slowly disappear.
Sometimes the beauty of it is so great and the relaxation that it brings so strong, that few words ends up being spoken.
This particular shot was taken from the deck of Laurie Anne's Kitchen on Highway 24 looking towards Swansboro, North Carolina.
Incidentally the food was also very good. I have not eaten enough at Laurie Anne's to do a review yet, but so far the food has been excellent. The inside of Laurie's Anne is very nicely done. I probably won't ever sit there unless it is raining or too windy for the deck.
Just in case you have not figured it out from the picture, the weather at the beach with the exception of just a couple of days has been stunning the last couple weeks of May. That is perfect for those who want some time on the beach before the summer "crowds."*
It is great time to visit. There are no crowds and the temperatures are nearly perfect. I guess it is time to check the water temperatures. I promise to get right to that this afternoon.
We had a wonderful visit to Beaufort this past Sunday to see the Royaliste, a tall ship built in Nova Scotia and visiting from San Francisco. You can get an idea of how crowded things are from this slide show.
The cattle herding egret and the farm tractor pictures were for a farmer friend in Canada. If those pictures don't scare you away, you check out this link for local rentals. Just tell them I sent you.
*While the Emerald Isle area has some crowds in the summer, it remains one of the best kept secrets among NC beaches.
