Just when you think the tomatoes might have given up the ghost for the year, all the watering I've been doing starts paying off. We have gotten a picking like this each of the last two weeks, plus a few others gathered in between pickings.
Today I picked another nine after getting this many yesterday. Being a sucker for punishment, I watered them again today. With all the warmth that we've had, it turns out that these late season tomatoes are better than our first ones. That's pretty unusual but I'm certainly not going to complain.
In fact tomato sandwiches sound pretty good for lunch tomorrow.
I suspect that we'll have tomatoes into the early part of October based on all the green ones. Then there are still new blooms showing up so we may still have tomatoes in November like we have had some years.
