Another kind of freedom
While I am celebrating the Fourth of July for all the right reasons, I have another reason to be happy.
My MacBook recovered from its early problems and has turned out to be a reliable performer. My dual G5, purchased in 2004, has continued to be a workhorse with no problems.
Even my Dell which appeared gone is humming along.
I have managed to survive in the real estate world mostly with a Mac.
All of that means that I have not bought a single desktop or laptop computer in the last year. Neither Steve Jobs nor Michael Dell or even the folks at HP have gotten computer money from me this year.
There have been plenty of printers, but no computers.
Just maybe this means that I am getting to the point that the technology curve is flattening for me.
The equipment that I have is doing its job nicely, especially my cell phone which works very well as a phone.
I guess this means that I have dropped out of the group that has to have the latest and greatest.
Actually I was probably out of that group long ago.
I kind of like my new world where the entrance ramps look a lot like Paradise.
Happy Fourth of July as I celebrate my independence from buying computers.
I am also pretty happy that I can subscribe to the tide table for Bogue Inlet with iCal. It makes those boat trips even in paradise a lot easier.
