Steve good to hear from you
Steve, I really appreciate the offer and the kind words, but as you know selling computers isn't what it used to be.
And what can I say about trying to sell Macs to the feds? It is so boring that only some of Larry's guys looking for retirement are willing to do it.
I am up to my knees in salt water most of the time, so the idea of putting on a suit and doing that long hike from Pentagon City Mall to the Pentagon in a steamy Washington summer just doesn't have any appeal.
You can understand Birkenstocks and shorts top a suit any day. You taught me that.
Just think, what would you rather do, sell Xserves or sell iPods? I know that is stupid question, but most people don't get that there is life after computers.
I know you will show us the way.
Now that we have a dialog going, I just have ask a question and leave you with one thought.
I would absolutely love to know what you said to Avie in July 2004 that had him sweating such bullets that he was willing to blow off a Congressional Committee just so he didn't miss that meeting with you?
Second, I am kind of glad that my one letter to you never made it.
I was dead wrong about the enterprise, I admit it publicly. Apple going into the enterprise was like the Iraq invasion.
It was based on bad intelligence. It would cost a fortune and what would we have won anyway? There is no victory in a bunch of cheap desktops.
Your victory is nearly complete.
Look when you are ready to retire and enjoy some pure water warm enough for humans, give me a call.
I have the perfect place for you. It is a fitting spot for the world's greatest CEO.
Throwing a little of your change towards that spot on the coast would be a lot less stress for both us instead of me coming back to Apple.
Hey look, if you can't see your way to an East Coast Sand Castle, drop by one of my websites, they're still done on a Mac even in the pc-centric RealtorĀ® world.
