Well it looks like my childhood friend whom I have been talking to about the Mac recently is going to bite the bullet and buy a MacBook soon. So much for those who theorized that no one would ever buy a Mac after talking to me.
I have been doing sales for a long time, and I long ago learned that it is better to do a full disclosure on benefits and challenges. If the product is good enough, the customer will make the right decision.
I have warned my friend about the potential release of new MacBooks, but I think he going to go ahead and buy one of the current models. It does everything that he needs it to do, and I think he is really tired of Windows.
He has also already found a buyer for his Dell laptop. His brother-in-law is going to put Linux on it. I wish him well with that endeavor.
In having the dialog with my friend, a number of questions have come up that made it clear that he still wasn't able to get as much information from the reseller as he needed. Unfortunately he also lives in an area that is devoid of Apple Stores.
I know my friend, Mark Spencer, who runs Cybergear, a small Apple storefront in Mount Airy, NC, still takes the time to really educate potential switchers on the Macintosh advantage, but his dedication is rare.
I think Apple should spend some of its billions by putting in place a 1-800-Switch hotline staffed by knowledgeable folks who could provide a little hand holding to people ready to come over to the platform.
Maybe Apple is at the top of their game and has already done this, and I have missed it. If not, I think it would make a huge difference in getting people to come over to the Mac.
The recent drought of posts has been due to some all consuming web work. I have completely revamped my CoastalNC.org site and my Coastal Real Estate site. I hope that I have created a better user experience and made the information easier to find.
You can see some of the results of my work in the clickable buttons to my sites that are now in this blog's side panel.
I would love to hear any feedback. You can click here to email comments to me.
I have also started a real estate newsletter about coastal property which I will t try to do once a quarter, The first one is available for viewing and if you would like to subscribe, this link will get you to the form.
